Electric Daisy Carnival, Memorial Stadium, Los Angelos, Summer of 2010
Here I am: First rave ever, second night of the two day event. I’m alone in a crowd of thousands of people on the football field of the stadium filled with this amazing music that is completely brand new to me. It’s night and I was lucky enough to have one piece of candy from a guy I had met earlier in the day (candy being a beaded bracelet made with love; worn by ravers and traded when a new person is met as a symbol of love). With everyone around me raving in pure ecstasy, I was enjoying myself, but I wanted to meet new people so I could come away with the full raving experience.
Peace – Love – Togetherness: The Code for Eternal Bliss
In using this code…
I found her…
forever…
The DJ switches to this (then) unknown song at around 1:03.
Right when the song switched, I heard the words:
“I see you and I see me”
And, as if it was fated…as if WE were were fated, we locked eyes. We clicked instantaneously in a way that I’ve never connected with anyone before. A moment of pure perfection.
At 1:15, I realized that I was staring at her and to save face I gestured at her, pointing to her forearms full of candy and then pointing at my one candy. She giggles and smiles at me as she nods her head in agreement; but she also holds up her finger as an indication to wait while she turns around with her back towards me. Nodding her head to the beat, as soon as the drop hits at 1:30…she proceeds to moonwalk over to where I was standing.
All the way up until 2:00 she shuffles around me in a circle, locking eyes…feeling each other out the whole time.
“And I love you…and I hope you love me too…”
She puts her hand on my face, mouthing those words as I welcome her with my hands around her waist. We grind; we breathe; we experience…pure love.
“And I need you…
She points at me.
and I hope y0u need me too…”
She points to herself.
“Babe…
I just hope that you know…
to never let me go…”
I hold her hand while we smile at each other- the world around us gone with our intertwined fingers pointing towards the heavens.
“Cause when it comes to forever, we should be together”
She points at her candy, kisses me on the cheek, smiles, and she shuffles while holding my hand at the drop. (2:28)
Barely managing to pull off a running man myself, (more like a jogging man) we rave together under the night stars.
She then makes the signs- the Code for Eternal Bliss
Peace – we make the peace sign and let our finger tips touch
Love – we make half of a heart with our fingers and join them to symbolize love
Togetherness – we intertwine our familiar fingers once again while she gives me her candy
As an added bonus of finding each other, she takes my hand and we make a pinky promise (similar to the video).
” To Forever”, she whispers in my ear.
“When we meet up the whole world stops.”
“The music’s louder, the temperature drops.”
“It seems like they’re all dancing to our beat.”
“Look around I know you’ll see…”
3:15 – We hold both hands this time: me…gazing at her translucent eyes reflecting the surrounding luminescence. Her…stargazing within my staring eyes, leaning closer until our lips almost touch.
3:26 – She smiles, kisses the tip of my nose…
3:28 (drop) – I smile as she backs away as we begin to shuffle together, knowing and loving each other in a way that can’t be explained in words….
She mouths the lyrics to me again, reminding me to never forget…
“Cause when it comes to forever, we should be together.”
Then at 4:00 the DJ smoothly transitions the song to Deadmau5 – Faxing Berlin.
She waves goodbye at me and blows me a kiss.
I know it’s time for her to go, but I’m ok with that.
Reality sets in again as she shuffles back to into the crowd.
There I am again: First rave ever, second night of the two day event. I’m alone in a crowd of thousands of people on the football field of the stadium filled with this amazing music that is completely brand new to me…
But this time was different.
This time, I made a promise for Eternal Love.

To Forever.
